What to record in a daily work log
A useful work log records, at minimum, the date or day, start and end time for each period worked, any unpaid break, and the resulting total hours. Add an hourly rate if the log also needs to show pay, which this tool calculates automatically once you enter one. Keep a row per shift rather than per day if you work split shifts — each row totals independently before everything is summed at the bottom.
